TYPE 2 DIABETES

Type 2 Diabetes is a condition in which cells cannot use blood sugar (Glucose) efficiently for energy. This happens when the cells become insensitive to insulin and the blood sugar gradually gets too high. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas still makes insulin, but the cells cannot use it very efficiently.

Type 2 diabetes is responsible for nearly 90% of the diabetic cases. People with obesity and no physical activity are most likely to suffer from this condition.

Insulin is a naturally occurring hormone. Your Pancreas produces it and releases it when you eat. Insulin helps transport glucose from your bloodstream to cells throughout your body, where it is used for energy.

If you have type 2 diabetes, your body becomes resistant to insulin. Your body is no longer using the hormone efficiently. This forces your pancreas to work harder to make more insulin.
